AI Context in Speakable allows educators to provide additional information that the AI can use when evaluating student responses. This context might include images, videos, text, or documents associated with a particular activity. By attaching AI Context, you ensure that the AI fully understands the content students are responding to, leading to more accurate grading and feedback.
2. What is AI Context?
AI Context is the supplementary information that is parsed and injected into the AI's evaluation process when students submit their responses in a respond student action. This context helps the AI to:
- Understand the Media Content: Whether it's a video, image, or text, the AI will comprehend the content's details and nuances.
- Evaluate Student Responses Accurately: With AI Context, the AI can assess student responses with a clear understanding of the media area they are referring to.
- Provide Correct and Relevant Feedback: The AI can offer feedback that is directly related to the content, making it more helpful and precise.
3. Adding AI Context to a Respond Card
To add AI Context to a respond card, follow these steps:
- Ensure a Media Area is Present: Before generating AI Context, make sure there is a media area within your activity. This could be a page with a video, image, or text that students will refer to in their responses.
- Generate AI Context:
- Go to the Respond Card where you want to add context.
- Click on the AI Context button inside the question or prompt section.
- A dialog will appear prompting you to select a media area from your activity.
- Select the Media Area:
- Choose the media area that contains the relevant content (e.g., a video titled "Mi Vida En España").
- Upon selecting the media area, Speakable will generate the AI Context, which includes detailed information about the content. This could include summaries, key points, or specific details that the AI will use during evaluation.
- Attach AI Context:
- Once the AI Context is generated, it can be attached to any respond card within the activity. This means that the AI now has all the necessary information to accurately evaluate student responses related to that media content.
- Example: In the provided image, AI Context has been attached to a respond card that asks students to summarize a video. The context generated includes details about the video, which the AI will use to assess the students' summaries.
4. Benefits of Using AI Context

By generating AI Context for this video, the AI will understand the video’s content, such as the girl’s experiences, the themes discussed, and key points. When a student submits their summary, the AI can then accurately evaluate their response based on the full context of the video, offering feedback that is aligned with what the student was expected to learn.
