Assignment Results in Speakable

The Assignment Results section in Speakable gives teachers the tools they need to effectively review and manage student submissions. Below is a detailed guide on how to navigate this section, organized into key areas of functionality. Each section references specific images to help visualize the process.

1. Reviewing Assignment Submissions

💡 View Scores/Submissions

In this section, teachers can view the overall submissions and grades of students. The main Assignment Results page (refer to the first image) displays a list of students, their submission status, and the grades they've received so far. You can quickly identify students who have pending submissions that require grading or need to be reviewed.

💡 Reopen Assignments

Teachers have the option to reopen assignments for individual students if needed. This can be done either from the three-dot dropdown menu next to each student's name or from within the individual student's results page.

💡 Close and Collect All

Once all students have submitted their work, or you are ready to finalize the grading, you can use the Close & Collect All button. This action finalizes all pending assignments and ensures that no further submissions or changes can be made.

2. Reviewing Individual Results and Adjusting Scores

💡 Overview and Student Action Results

When reviewing individual student actions, you can click on a specific response to open a popup modal. Here, you can adjust the score directly, providing flexibility to alter grades based on closer inspection or additional context.\

💡 Adjust Pass/Fail Scores Manually

Teachers can specifically adjust pass/fail scores for multiple-choice (MC), repeat actions, and pass/fail respond cards. This is particularly useful when a response requires subjective judgment or when a mistake was made in the initial evaluation.

💡 Adjust Rubric Scores for Respond Cards with Rubrics

For respond cards that use a rubric, teachers can adjust the scores for each rubric criterion directly within the student's detailed result page. This allows for more nuanced grading based on specific performance indicators. The score will automatically be recalculated.

💡 Free Version Only: Reviewing Assignments

In the free version of Speakable, AI does not automatically grade respond student actions. Therefore, teachers must manually review these, assign a score, and then finalize the overall assignment grade. The assignment’s final score remains unavailable until all responses are manually graded.

💡 Finalize the Assignment

After reviewing all student submissions, teachers can finalize the assignment by clicking on the Finalize button. This action locks in the student's score and completes the grading process.

3. Review Content Analytics

View ACTFL/WIDA Aggregate Data

For organization plans, Speakable provides aggregate analytics on ACTFL or WIDA estimates. This data is accessible by click on a respond card from the content tab and offers insights into the overall proficiency levels across the class.

Adjust Scores and Comment Here

Within the content analytics, teachers can also adjust individual scores and leave comments on student actions, just as they would in the detailed student results view.

4. Commenting

How to Leave Comments

Teachers can leave personalized comments on student responses, providing additional feedback or clarification as needed. This can be done directly within the student’s result page or in the popup modal.

Generate AI Comment Suggestions (Organization Plans Only)

For organization plans, Speakable offers the ability to generate AI-driven comment suggestions. This feature helps teachers quickly provide meaningful feedback by suggesting relevant comments based on the student’s response.
