To ensure a smooth experience with Speakable, it's crucial to verify that your microphone is working correctly. Speakable provides an easy-to-follow microphone setup process, which you’ll encounter when starting your first assignment. If you’ve previously completed this process but wish to recheck your microphone, you can do so by clicking the three dots in the navigation bar and selecting “Check My Microphone.”

Microphone Setup Process:

  1. Verify Browser Status:
    • Ensure you're using a compatible browser. For iOS devices (iPhone or iPad), use Safari. For non-iOS devices, Chrome is recommended.
    • Confirm the browser by checking the box and clicking "Next."
  1. Check Audio Input:
    • You'll be prompted to repeat a given phrase to test your microphone. Click the microphone button, speak the phrase, and click the button again to stop recording.
    • Playback your recorded audio. If you can hear it, select “Yes, I can,” then click "Next."
    • If not, click "No, I can't," then "Clear and Try Again" to repeat the process. If issues persist, access troubleshooting link provided Here
  1. Check Speech Recognition:
    • Repeat the displayed phrase into the microphone to verify that the voice recognition system works correctly.
    • Once your voice is detected and recognized, your microphone setup is complete.

After completing these steps, you'll see a confirmation message. Click “Start Activity” to begin your assignment.
