AI Graded (Spoken and Written Responses)

Speakable also offers AI Graded methods for more nuanced evaluation of spoken and written responses. This grading can be done in two ways: Pass/Fail or Rubric-Based.

  • Pass/Fail Grading:
    • How It Works: The AI evaluates the student’s response against a simple grading criteria—a textual description of what constitutes a correct answer.
    • Scoring: If the AI determines that the response meets the criteria, the student receives full points. If not, they receive none.
    • Availability: This method is available on both Organization and Teacher Pro plans.
    • Use Case: Ideal for tasks with clear, binary outcomes, such as basic comprehension checks.
  • Rubric-Based Grading:
    • How It Works: The AI uses a rubric to assess responses across multiple criteria, such as grammar and relevance.
    • Creating a Rubric: Teachers can create a custom rubric or use AI to generate one. Speakable also offers pre-made rubric templates.
    • Scoring Process:
      • The AI assigns a score for each criterion based on predefined levels (e.g., Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced).
      • The final score is calculated by dividing the total points earned by the total possible points across all criteria.
    • Use Case: Best suited for complex tasks requiring detailed, criterion-based feedback, such as essays or spoken language assessments.
